Good morning, Masters!
Since the month has ended, several matches have wrapped up and we’ve also released an update with new spells, so it's time to analyze the game’s meta as of April 2025 to see what Masters are generally playing. We’ve been doing these kinds of analyses internally, but this will be the first time we share it with all of you.

1. Data Source
All data shown in this analysis has been collected from games played and finished during the month of April 2025, meaning 6 matches in total.
These matches were: Masacre IX, Team Battle II, Playground2, MasacreX, RealChill, and MasacreXI.
It’s a somewhat unusual set of games because 3 of them are “massacre”-type matches where all players are in the same region, and these games usually end quickly with highly aggressive playstyles.
RealChill, on the other hand, is a standard match with each player in their own region, which usually means a slower, more control-oriented game.
And lastly, the Team Battle, which holds the "honor" of being the match with the highest number of turns. Naturally, since it was a team game with each team in a different region, it ended up being quite slow and focused on control.
So, we feel it's a varied but sufficient sample for a mini meta-analysis of the month. We hope more players join the upcoming matches so we can offer even more reliable insights into the game meta. 😁
2. Top Construction Families
A construction family refers to each base structure along with all its possible upgrades. In this case, to no one’s surprise, the Shadow Guild Lair remains the undefeated champion in terms of popularity.
However, this time both the Wizard Towers and the Mercenary Camps have gained significant popularity.
To highlight how popular the Shadow Guild family is, we’ve prepared the following graph where you can clearly see that 30% of all player-built constructions belong to the Shadow Guild.
3. Top Constructions
Now let’s break down the top constructions by individual level, meaning Empowered Incubator I and Empowered Incubator II will occupy different spots.
The top 1 spot remains Shadow Guild I, and the second is Shadow Guild II. In other words, Shadow Guild II is built more often than any other level 1 construction (except for Shadow Guild I itself, of course). That’s why several wise alchemists are calling for a rework of the entire Shadow Guild family...
Golem Space and Dragon Caves have seen a steep drop in use, making room for the Adventurers Guild and Wizard Towers. It's no mystery that the nerf to Empowered Golem III played a role, but the decline in Dragon Caves is harder to explain. We assume it's due to more fast-paced matches (3 massacres, 1 normal, and 1 slow).
Shadow Guild I is built almost twice as often as the next most common level 1 building, Adventurers Guild I.
The chart below shows the height difference between it and the rest of the constructions.
4. Most Used Spells
Now let’s analyze the most used spells. Keep in mind that this ranking is based purely on the number of times each spell is cast. This favors low-cost spells since they can be used more frequently with the same amount of concentration. That’s why we’ve added a new section at the end for a different metric 😊
Once again, Growth II is by far the most used spell. Interestingly, Growth I has now surpassed Growth IV in popularity. The top 3 spells are all Growth spells—this has remained consistent in every meta review we’ve done.
Despite the nerf, Empowered Golem III is still in the top 4. After that, we see 3 city-related spells that have always been in the top 10.
A curious detail: elemental resistance spells vary in popularity each time we do this analysis. This time the top resistances are: fire, acid, cold, and lightning.
Fire is the element with the most dragons, and acid is the element with the most starting dragons, so it makes sense they are at the top.
In the previous analysis, it was: cold, fire, lightning, and acid.
We can see that the Growth family is really in a league of its own. Even Growth IV, the least-cast Growth spell, is still used more than twice as often as the next spell on the list.
The dominance of Growth spells heavily punishes other strategies… Some alchemists have proposed a match with no Growth spells allowed to see what alternative strategies might emerge.
What do you think?
5. Highest Concentration Spent on Spells
Now for the new section. This time, to analyze spell usage, we’ve multiplied the number of times a spell is cast by its concentration cost. That way, we avoid favoring low-cost spells and get a more accurate picture of their real impact. If a spell ranks high here, it means players are spending more total concentration on it—so it's more important in the meta.
This different way of measuring popularity shakes up the ranking of the top 30 spells quite a bit.
This time, Growth IV takes the crown as the spell that players spend the most concentration on, followed by the ever-popular Growth II…
But now we see new entries like Gofio Brew and Greater Aberrant Mutation. Overall, this metric has benefited spells cast on Incubators. Also curious is how Empowered Golem III plummets in this ranking, now tied with Dracolich.
The graph shows just how much more concentration is spent on Growth IV than any other spell—by a huge margin.
